Mountaineer Minute

Happy beginning of March! The weather has suddenly started to feel like spring. I, for one, am grateful and hopeful that it continues. We have just completed term 6 and have started term 7. Our school year continues to fly by and graduation looms closer. It is difficult to believe that last year at this time we were locking down and school went fully virtual. We have learned a lot over the last year, and hopefully we have continued to educate your students and provide for them a quality education and safe environment in which to grow in knowledge, skills and dispositions.

Congratulations to our student of the week, Kaden Stephens. He was chosen because he is committed to personal growth in all areas of life physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual. If Kaden is part of your life, let him know you are proud of him.
Term 6 ended on Friday. Congratulations to our graduates: Danee Ross and Chelsa Smith. We are proud of them and excited to celebrate again with them at graduation in May.
Congratulations to our 4.0 students for term 6: Juan Alvarez, Warner Astle, Asher Davis, Kaylie Davis, Daniel Ivy, Paul Johnson, Nathan Krinke, Hayden Leon Maricello McCain, Caitlyn Moss, Cassandra Penheiro, Liliana Pliego, Drezdon Regalado, Brandon Sisneros, Chelsa Smith, Simeon Tribe, Tanner Vasquez and Destiny Wernz.
Congratulations to our honor roll students for term 6: Carsen Anderson, Margarito Aguado, Juan Alverez, Warner Astle, Tariona Black, Keyauna Bolander, Ashley Davis, Daijionique Davis, Kaylie Davis, Kadence Draper, Isabelle Eggington, Jose Elias De La Cruz, Chance Harris, Austin Heath, Jeremy Hernandez, Daniel Ivy, Jacob Jacobson, Paul Johnson, Makean Koch, Nathan Krinke, Angel Lepe, Maricello McCain, Shania Morgan, Caitlyn Moss, Gabriel Munoz Ayala, Preston Pehrson, Cassandra Penheiro, Liliana Pliego, Drezdon Regalado, Edson Romero, Danee Ross, Bryan Ruiz, Anastasya Schaumann, Brandon Sisneros, Vincent Sisneros, Chelsa Smith, Luke Smith, Kaden Stephens, Victoria Swarnes, Jake Toulou, Simeon Tribe, Etta Valenzuela, Tanner Vasquez, Lila Warnick, Destiny Wernz, and David Young.
Honor roll consists of all students who have received a 3.0 or higher. This is 46 students and represents 50% of our student body. Congratulations to these students and to our wonderful teachers for pushing our students. As you know many of our students have never found success in school prior to coming to Summit. The fact that so many are on the honor roll shows that they are becoming lifelong learners and understanding that this is the key to today and the future. If you have these students in your lives, make sure you are able to celebrate them because for many of them it may be the first time that they are on the honor roll. We appreciate all that you are doing to help each of these students find success in school and develop a life of value and meaning.
Next week Tuesday, March 9th is our ACT test. This is also a distance learning day for all non Junior students. Because Tuesday of next week is the distance learning day for the week, Wednesday will be in person learning. Students will be in the building on Wednesday March 10th.
Monday March 15th is a Professional Development day. No students will be in the building that day, but because of this, Wednesday March 17th will be an in person learning day. Students should plan on attending school Wednesday March 17th.
We understand that it has been confusing for many to know which Wednesday’s are distance learning and which are in person learning. The next two Wednesday’s, March 10th and 17th are the final Wednesday’s of the school year that we will be holding in person learning. After March 17th all Wednesday’s will be distance learning days.
Spring break for the Alpine School District is the first week of April, the 5-9. There will be no school that entire week.
Upcoming dates to remember:
March 1 – First day of Term 7
March 9 – ACT Day
March 10 – In person school day
March 15 – Professional Development Day, No School
March 17 – In person school day
March 26 – Final day of Term 7
April 5-9 – Spring Break

Thanks again for all you do to help your students find success in school and in life!
