Mountaineer Minute

Happy February! We have been rolling through the school year. We are over 100 days into the year with only 65 school days until graduation.  We hope that each of you are enjoying the school year and appreciate all that you are doing for your students to keep them chugging along in school and working their way closer to that graduation goal.

Celebrations
Congratulations to our graduates from term 5: Zander Clausing, Jose Elias de la Cruz, Brian Harris, Hayley Norr, DJ Wuebkes, and Hugo Lucero. This is a strong group of graduates, and we are sad to see them go, but happy for their accomplishments. We wish them the best, and are excited to see them at our graduation ceremony in May.

Congratulations to our 4.0 students from term 5: Angel Alvarez, Kiera Bourgoin, Abi Bronson, Tonya Grant, Eve Hicken, Dakota Howells, Hayley Norr, Trinity Osmond, Nadie Peterson, Victor Rachiele, Christopher Rodriguez, Francisco Romero, Kaylee Shapley, Madeline Simnitt, Jaycie Tiberi, Jack Veil, Meckenzie Warburton, and Joseph Yates-Poff.

Congratulations to our other honor roll students from term 5: Bethany Adams, Tyson Almond, Makayla Anderson, Jaxon Ashton, Tameru Bayles, Camryn Bird, Ni doh Chay, Ryan Garrett, Zachary Gray, Justin Green, Victor Sanchez Hernandez,  Payton Howell, Nickolas Jepperson, Connor Maddocks, Dannyelle Maldonado Grant, Riker Martinez, Isabelle McCleery, Carlee Moosman, Nashon Murray, Luis Ochoa,  Devin Plummer, William Saldarriaga,  Tristan Sheffield,  Kaylie Spero,  and Noel Vides-Pena.

This is 43 students of our total population of 117 students as of this morning. This is 37% of our student population earning honor roll status. Thank you to everyone who has had a hand in helping these students achieve success in their academic progress. For many of our students, they have never dreamed of being on the honor roll in their previous schools. Many of these students are repeat honor roll students and will continue to find academic success in school.

This week has been student creed week. We have celebrated all week with dress up days, lunchtime activities, prize giveaways, and generally a feeling of positivity in the air. Many students have participated in the dress up days and memorized the student creed. Talk to your students about how they participated in creed week this week. A big thank you to Tanner and Nicole, our counselors for spearheading the creed week efforts.

Calendar Items
We are continuing our weekly after school activities: climbing on Tuesday’s and bowling on Thursday’s. Each activity is over at 3:30pm and students must find their own transportation home from Summit. If you have a student attend any of these activities, please be prompt in your arrival for pickup so staff do not have to stay longer than necessary awaiting the ride of a few students. We appreciate your efforts in supporting our students to attend these fun after school activities.

On Thursday February 16th students in 8th, 10th, and 12th grade have the option to take the SHARP test. Forms have been sent home which you can sign and return to have your child participate in this survey. This is an opt-in survey, so if you do not return the form signed, your student will not participate in the SHARP. This survey is happening district wide in Alpine. If you have any questions feel free to call Summit or email Dan for answers.

Next Friday, February 17th is a non-student, teacher workday. There will be no school for students that day.
Monday February 20th there is no school in observance of President’s day.

The week of February 21-24 we will be administering the Renaissance 360 test to all students. This test is being used to collect academic data for each student so we can measure performance and growth specifically in math and reading, to best inform us where students need to be placed and if they are making progress in those areas.

Tuesday February 28th is an HLNE activity. We will be taking students to the Eccles theater in Salt Lake to see Dear Evan Hansen. The show starts at 7:30pm. Invitations will be going out in the next few weeks. If your student brings home a permission form please make every effort to let them attend. If you have a student you would like to see invited, please let us know.

Term 6 ends Friday March 10th.

Thanks for all you do to help your students find success in school and in life!
