Mountaineer Minute

Happy end of April! The weather is finally turning warmer, the trees are budding, snow melting. It’s a beautiful time of the year. We are 18 school days away from graduation and the end of the school year. It sure has flown by. Thank you for everything you are doing to aid your students in their schooling this year.

On April 14th we had a very successful Summit Prom. Big shout out to all the staff at Summit who helped plan and execute the amazingly fun night. We had food, dancing, a photo booth, and a limo. All of which were enjoyable and made the night unforgettable. If your student had the chance to attend prom we hope they spoke of it with jubilation and excitement.

On April 18-19 we took students to clear creek. It was an amazing experience despite the record amount of snow on the ground. We were able to modify some of the activities and provide a great teambuilding and culture building experience. We are excited to be able to attend clear creek again next fall, hopefully with less snow.

Calendar

Climbing and bowling continue to happen after school each week.

We are starting fly fishing again with the warmer weather. Our counselor Tanner is spearheading these excursions and will continue to invite students through the end of the school year.

Next week Tuesday through Friday we will be taking students to Capitol Reef Field Station. This will be a great opportunity for students to learn leadership, teambuilding and culture building. If your student has been invited, make sure they are prepared and encouraged to go with the school.

Tuesday May 23rd is the last day of school at Summit. School and buses will run at normal times everyday including that last day May 23rd. Following May 23rd buses will not run and there will be no classes taught.

Our graduation ceremony is Wednesday May 24th at 4pm at Mountain View High School in Orem. All are invited to attend the ceremony. There will be a pre-ceremony reception from 3:15pm-3:45pm with light refreshments available. The ceremony typically lasts 80-90 minutes. Summit graduations are celebrations of the school year and unlike any school’s graduation you have been to. We consider it one of the highlights Summit has through the year and hope that everyone who wants to attend will have the opportunity.

Summer school June session at Summit High starts on Monday June 5th and runs through Friday June 30th. Registration is open through our website: summit.alpineschools.org. Please register your student now so we can get schedules established as soon as possible. We will be continuing our tradition of Friday field trips to educational locations, and during the week, school will be experiential outdoor experiences versus traditional classroom instruction. We are excited for our summer school experience this year. If you have further questions about summer school please reach out.

The July session of summer school at Summit High will be smaller and dedicated primarily for seniors and others extremely behind in credit. This session will run from July 6-28 and will be an in classroom learning experience.

If your student plans to attend any of the summer school sessions, be aware, the following dates there will be no school: June 19th and July 24th.

Once again, thank you for an amazing school year. We hope to finish strong with our last term this year. We are excited to offer our summer school program and hope all who want to participate have the chance. We look forward to next school year and all the excitement, challenges, and triumphs which are sure to happen.

Thanks for all you do to help your students find success in school and in life!
