Mountaineer Minute

Happy May! Yes we have finally reached the final month of the school year. There are only 13 school days until our graduation ceremony and the end of the school year. This has been a whirlwind of a school year, and we are committed to ending strong. We are in our final term, so keep encouraging your students to work hard and finish strong.

Congratulations to our graduates from term 8: Shawn Haynie, Preston Pehrson, and John Gallagos. This brings our total graduates to 28 on the school year, with a potential of more at the end of term 9, we are ready for another amazing graduation ceremony.

Speaking of graduation, we will hold graduation in the Orem High School auditorium on Wednesday May 26th at 4pm. There will be a reception prior to the ceremony from 3:15-3:45pm in the commons area outside of the auditorium at Orem High. Light refreshments will be served.

Summer school will be running at Summit High School from June 2-30. Sign ups are happening now at summit.alpineschools.org. If your student wants to attend summer school please have them register now so we can plan accordingly for June 2nd.

Summer school at the Pointe and Aspire will take place this summer as well. They will be on a slightly different schedule as Summit High and those students should already be registered for summer school and be aware of the schedule.

Congratulations to our students of the week for the month of April and the first week of May: Shawn Haynie, Franccesca Carmigniani, Bridget Gauthier, Etta Valenzuela, and Carsen Anderson. They were all chosen for exemplifying parts of the Summit student creed for success in school and a happy life. If you have these students in your life, tell them congratulations and let them know how great they are.

We will be delivering lawn signs for our graduates this week if the graduate still lives in Utah County(we know some have moved already). This is a tradition started last year and our graduation committee loved them enough to want to continue the tradition this year. If you have a graduate in your home, plan on someone from the Summit staff placing a lawn sign this Wednesday May 12th. If you have any questions about this feel free to email me.

Friday May 14th will be the Summit High closing activity and dance entitled “Mask-arade”. This activity will take place from 7pm-9pm at Summit high in the Polaris commons and cafeteria area. The dress is semi-formal and students are required to get a parent permission form signed prior to the event. There will be music, food, and fun. We expect students will be in the building the entire time they attend the event. Once they leave there will be no re-entry. This is a free event for all current Summit students and graduates from this year only.

The last day of classes for students is Tuesday May 25th. The only students that need to be in school on Wednesday May 26th are those needing remediation of credit for graduation. With the graduation ceremony held on the 26th there will be no additional classes running that day.

Thanks again for all you do to help your students find success in school and in life!
