Mountaineer Minute

Happy December! The school year seems to be flying by so quickly. We have completed term 3 and are in term 4. With the end of term 4 comes the halfway point of the school year. Hopefully all of you are enjoying this holiday season, with Thanksgiving a few weeks ago and end of year holidays coming up. It is an exciting time of the year for many. It also can be a difficult time of year for many too, and at Summit we are doing our best to help each student not only complete term 4 successfully but enjoy this time of year with special activities and gifts. We appreciate all that you do to aid your students in their educational endeavors.

Calendar

The last day of school for students is Thursday December 21st. This is a minimal day, and buses will run but the school day is from 7:45am-11:15am. This means the morning bus schedule will be the same, but buses will leave Summit at 11:20am. We will have a modified school schedule that day but students will attend all 4 classes in modified format. School lunch will still be served, and as a special treat Summit will be providing every student who would like breakfast upon arrival to school.

Because of the minimal day on Thursday December 21st, we will be celebrating our term 4 graduates on Wednesday December 20th.

The holiday break starts December 22nd and runs through January 5th. School begins again on Monday January 8th.

Pickleball and bowling continue to happen each week on Tuesday and Thursday respectively. They run until 3:30pm and students must provide a ride home from Summit at 3:30pm in order to attend. They continue to be free of charge for any students who participate.

Wednesday December 20th is a night activity to the musical Mamma Mia at the Eccles Theater in Salt Lake. The show starts at 7:30pm. If your student is invited to attend we hope you will support them in attending this fun musical experience.

We appreciate the support from those at the State Office of Education who continue to aid Summit in many ways including financially, which allow us to offer so many fun and exciting activities to students. These activities are integral to the culture of Summit and provide students the opportunity to attend activities that they normally would not get to do.

It is our hope at Summit that each student who attends will enjoy this month of December, and stay safe and happy over the holiday break. We hope students enjoy the time away and find time to rest but also anticipate returning in January, ready to attack the second semester of school and finish strong.

Thanks for all you do to help your students find success in school and in life!
